Along the way, it's worth stopping at inns along the route, such as the Giernhof by the lake or the Greinhof, which is situated more remotely in the forest. On the southern shore, the cycle route leads directly over the dam. Here you'll enjoy a wonderful view down the valley over the wide expanse of the Malles Heath and to King Ortles, South Tyrol's highest mountain at 3,905 meters. We start at the Trattla sports and leisure center near Ennewasser and cycle uphill past strawberry fields, accompanied by the rushing of the Plima stream. This opens up an impressive view towards the Cevedale glacier and some of South Tyrol's highest peaks. We end our tour on the sun terrace of the mountain inn Stallwies, whose rye fields are considered the highest in Europe.

We continue more leisurely to the rustic Paflur inn with its inviting sun terrace above the village of Tanas. Here begins the descent towards Sluderno and Churburg Castle, one of South Tyrol's best-preserved castles. From here, it's also worth making a detour to the town of Glorenza with its medieval arcades and city walls. On the Val Venosta cycle route, we continue past grain fields and apple orchards. The path leads through Prato allo Stelvio and Cengles with its namesake castle, which today houses a cultural inn. Following the Adige River, we finally return to Lasa.

From Laatsch we cycle on to Rifair and towards Switzerland. Before the Swiss border lies Tubre in Val Monastero. Here stands the small church of St. Johann with well-preserved frescoes from the 13th century. Just beyond the border, the route passes by the UNESCO World Heritage site St. Johann Monastery. This alpine pasture lies 500 meters above our starting point. We return via the forest road down to the Tenders farm inn, which also invites you to stop for refreshments. This brings us to the northernmost point of this tour: the view sweeps over the northern end of Lake Reschen and the surrounding mountains. From Curon at Lake Reschen, first the Langtaufers road and then a shady forest path lead us to the unmanned Kapron Alpine Pasture (1,954 m). Over several ascents and descents, we continue to the turnoff to the mountain hut Maseben at 2,200 meters. The detour there is rewarded with a lunch stop, where South Tyrolean classics like speck dumplings are on the menu alongside newly interpreted regional cuisine dishes. Back at the junction, we ride down towards Karlinbach and along this mountain stream to the Melager Alpine Pasture at the valley's end. From here, the glaciers seem within reach. A special specialty of the alpine pasture is their homemade cheese. Not only in summer but also in winter, this tour is an insider tip: it's equally recommended on cross-country skis or on foot as a winter hike. Here we cross the road and ride towards Burgusio. Before the narrow dam, we turn onto a forest road and into the cool forest. We follow this path up beyond the tree line to the Large and Small Priests' Lakes. The lakes owe their names to the Benedictine Abbey Monte Maria down in the valley, to whose possessions they belong. A little further on, at the Plantapatsch hut, we rest and recharge our energy. Meanwhile, we let our gaze wander over the Ortles group and the valley landscape of Val Venosta. Via the alpine pasture path, passing the Höfer Alpine Pasture, we ride to the valley station and on the old service road to Monte Maria Abbey. From here we return on the cycle route in the valley via Burgusio to Malles.

Along this high-altitude trail between 1,450 and 1,900 m, we come to a series of alpine pastures with refreshment stops: Naturno Alpine Pasture, Zet Alpine Pasture, Mausloch Alpine Pasture and Tablà Alpine Pasture spoil us with typical South Tyrolean dishes and refreshments. The view sweeps over the Val Venosta and to the mountains of the Texel Group on the opposite side of the valley.
